I hope everyone had the best Christmas ever, or whichever holiday is it you celebrated, if any – I hope you had the very best weekend!
Christmas is one of my favourite times of year. Everyone just seems happier, everything looks festive, there is wonder everywhere. And one of the things that I was most excited about getting to do was visiting the VanDusen Gardens Festival of Lights, which is a yearly light set up in the gardens, and it is so festive and so pretty, and something that I now want to go see every year.
There are lights absolutely everywhere, everything sparkles and glitters, and it was especially nice and pretty looking with all the snow on the ground. I think it really added a special element to the lights, making the gardens a true Winter Wonderland.
There was a Gingerbread Wood (which I swear smelt of real gingerbread), a Parisian area complete with miniature Eiffel Tower, a carousel, dancing lights in the trees and across the frozen waters, lit-up gazebos and light caverns and tunnels – everything was so magical and gorgeous. I couldn’t stop smiling. There was mulled wine and hot cocoa, and of course, Christmas carols chiming through the loudspeakers. It was a garden of lights, a snow-covered landscape, and a Christmas dream all rolled into one. It was perfect.
And Christmas only got better from there.
I hope you all had a lovely time doing whatever it was you were doing, swapping gifts, seeing friends and family, and I hope you have a wonderful leap into the new year!
