My Skincare Routine

My skin is a sensitive beast. The slightest alteration in product, routine, or even water can make it go crazy. It’s taken some experimenting and patience, but I think I’ve finally discovered the perfect routine for my skin. It leaves my skin feeling fresh, rejuvenated, and rarely irritated.

I should clarify: this is my skincare routine for my face. The rest of my skin isn’t like a bitter old man the way my face can be. The rest of my skin doesn’t have any issues and is easy to take care of, unlike my face, which freaks out at the slightest change in anything (much like a bitter old man).

My skincare comes down to three products, all of them pink, all of them from Lush.

We’ll start with the face wash.

Aqua Marina

This was my first addition to the collection, starting my Aqua Marina detox several months ago now. This is the only face wash I use now. I’ve gushed about this stuff before, and I’m going to gush about it again.

All three of my products use calamine powder, and for Aqua Marina, that’s its main ingredient. You can see the rest of the ingredients in the picture above, my favourite being the seaweed that is actually mixed into the face wash. It all melds together to help soothe irritated skin, helping with redness and spots. Ever since I’ve started using it, I’ve rarely broken out, and any pimple I do get is quick to get the boot.

It smells like the ocean, and makes me feel like an exotic mermaid, so that’s just the enticing icing on the soothing cake.

Full of Grace

A moisturizing serum bar, this is another great product for evening out your skin tone and reducing redness. Calamine, rose petals, and Portobello mushrooms are some of the many great ingredients packed into this bar, all contributing to its silky texture and heavenly scent. After cleansing my face with Aqua Marina, I rub this bar between my hands, then smooth that onto my face. My skins soaks it all up and is left feeling hydrated and softer than soft.

This is my nighttime moisturizer. I still use my regular Aveeno moisturizer in the morning (Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer, with natural light diffusers and SPF 30).

Rosy Cheeks

This fresh face mask is my latest addition to the collection. This is a rose lover’s dream – it’s got fresh rose petals and rose oil in it, along with the ever-classic calamine. I use this every second to third day, after cleansing and before moisturizing. I cannot even express how amazing this stuff smells; it might just be my favourite scent yet, which is saying a lot. I put it on, leaving it for 15 minutes of relaxation and soothing time. This is another product that’s meant to tone and nourish skin, helping with redness and irritation (clearly, I’ve found my target goal).

Combined, these three products seem to have hit my skin sweet spot. My skin has never looked better. It’s so soft, it’s so smooth, and it’s really started to calm down as well.

This is what works for me, but of course, everybody’s skin is different, so it’s important that you find what works best for you. I highly recommend Lush products if you find drug store buys just not cutting it for you. Head into the store and talk to someone who works there – they’re extremely knowledgeable about their products, and they’ll be able to help you find the products best suited to your type of skin. That’s the beauty of it, they’ve got something for everyone – dry skin, oily skin, sensitive skin, angry skin. It’s all natural, it’s all fresh, and it’s all great for your skin.
