Games Night!

Over the weekend I had a games night, and it was so much fun! I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while, and I finally found the opportunity to do so. Friends, snacks, and games – what more could you want?I love the comic strips by Cyanide and Happiness, so when I discovered they had created a game out of it, I knew I had to get it. The game is called Joking Hazard; I ordered it off Amazon about a month ago and I’ve been waiting ever since for a chance to play. The whole reason behind games night was so I could play this game. And guys, it was amazing.

It’s sort of like Cards Against Humanity, but you’re building a comic strip – playing the worst, most horrible card you can. One card is flipped over from the deck, then, whoever the judge is for that round, chooses a card from their hand to place down on either side of the deck card. The rest of the players then have to complete the strip with a card from their hand, and the judge decides which card wins, whether it’s the one they found the funniest or most gruesome – whatever floats your boat! We had so much fun, and the cards are all amazingly funny, with infinite possibilities of what you could put down. Lots of cards went well together, and there wasn’t a single round where we felt the options a let down. We played through the entire deck. I highly, highly recommend this game; it’s a lot of fun.

After a snack (and rainbow cake) break, we settled into a rousing game of Taboo After Midnight, the more adult version of Taboo.

It had been a while since I’d last played Taboo. High school would have been the last time; so I’d forgotten how much fun that game was, the Midnight version especially. We all had a good laugh trying to describe things like panty raids and twerking. Once again, we played through the entire deck, and not once did we stop laughing.

The night was a great success, and I’m so glad I was finally able to put it together, and especially glad I finally got to play the Cyanide and Happiness game. I’ll definitely be wanting to do another games night, with even more games. It was a great evening and a great time.
