I’ve never been the best at eating breakfasts, but I know it’s supposed to be the most important meal, so I’m trying to get better. Cereal is good and all, but it can get tiring to eat the same thing day after day, so to keep things interesting I try to switch things up every now and then. Here are some of my 3 favourite switch-it-up breakfasts!
1. Oatmeal
Oatmeal is quick and easy, and can have a lot of variation from bowl to bowl. The easiest way of doing oatmeal is to use the Quaker Oats instant packets, with flavours ranging from Cinnamon Apple to Maple Brown Sugar (my personal fav). Or, you can try microwaving quick oats, and add the flavouring yourself. I like to keep it super simple, by adding a teaspoon of brown sugar and a splash of milk to mine. An alternative to that is adding some fresh fruit, like berries or nectarine slices to your bowl. Delicious!
2. Yogurt and Granola
This is a favourite summer time breakfast, but it would definitely work this time of year too. Get yourself some yogurt (make it plain, or flavoured, Greek, or regular) and some granola, or even cereal, and mix it all together. You could keep it just like that, but I like to add some extra fun to this breakfast. I love adding things like fruit (nectarines or peaches are my favourite, but bananas and blueberries are really good too), coconut flakes, almonds, some flax seeds for a extra boost of health, and even a few chocolate chips. This is such a yummy breakfast, and it’s so easy to cobble together. Plus, with so much variety of options to mix together, it never gets old.
3. Eggs on Bread
Can’t get more classic than eggs on bread. You can use toast, croissants, English muffins, cheese buns, any kind of bread type you like. I like to make my eggs sunny side up, but scrambled works nicely too. Poached eggs with some hollandaise sauce turns this breakfast into a decadent feast. This breakfast takes a little longer, and besides, you’ll want to take your time and enjoy it, so I’ll usually make this on the weekend or on a day I can take a more leisurely morning, but it is so, so worth it!
