So Long 2017, Hello 2018

Personally, I’d have to chalk 2017 up to a pretty great year. I think I accomplished a lot, experienced a lot, and now I’ve set myself up for a good start to the new year. For once in my life, I feel like I might be going somewhere – and it’s a really nice feeling.

What happened this year? A lot. My highlights for the year were definitely finishing my third book, going to Edinburgh (which was not only an amazing trip, but the first big trip me and my boyfriend took together, making it extra special), getting my new job (which is so, so, SO much better than my last job), and getting accepted into the creative writing program.

I’m super excited to see what 2018 is going to bring. I’m feeling very optimistic about the year and about the future in general. I’m excited to see where the creative writing program is going to me; I’m going to lap up every bit of it, learn all that I can, and just thoroughly enjoy myself and immerse myself in writing. I expect to start, and hopefully finish my next book.

I’m loving my new job. It’s just an internship at the moment, but I’m writing for it, and it could lead to something permanent, or at least lead me to something else like it later on down the road. I actually get to call myself a writer now, because I’m being paid to write and it’s the best feeling in the world.

My boyfriend and I may end up moving in together. We’ve got a few options. My parents are retiring and moving out to the island, and so my brother and his girlfriend will be taking over their house. I, along with my boyfriend, are welcome to live with them, so that’s the simplest solution, one that I don’t mind as it means I won’t really have to worry too much. Or, we might find our own place. But Vancouver ain’t cheap, and we’re both going back to school, so sticking to our home roots may be our best option at the moment. Either way, I’m excited about the steps we’re taking.

My best friend is getting married to the man of her dreams and I’m sooooo excited to head out to Ontario and participate in their wedding.

I feel like the future is open to me. It’s a great feeling. I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings.
