Alright, so it’s been a while. Life just sort of took over, as it does from time to time. So what have I been up to? Well, I suppose, lots of stuff and not much at all at the same time.
Anyone else still feel like 2019 was last year? Boy, time sure flies when you’re… stuck at home trying to avoid all other humans like there’s some sort of plague going around or something…

On a whim, I applied for a creative writing program, and I just found out that I got in! I’m so amazed and excited! It sounds like an amazing program, with classes that will actually be useful in helping me to learn about how to get my books published, how to write better, how to categorize better, all that jazz. Continue reading “I got into a Creative Writing Program!”
For the past few months, I’ve been working on editing one of my novels and preparing it so I can release it into the terrifying world of agents and editors. This is the novel that I finished writing about this time last year, and I left it since then to let myself forget as much of it as I could. That way, I could return to it with fresh eyes, and begin to edit, which is exactly what I did. And I gotta say, it has been an amazing journey. Continue reading “Swinging Back Into Writing”
Last weekend I finished writing my third novel, and every single part of that sentence astounds me. I finished writing my novel at long last, which is incredible and exciting in and of itself, but that also marks my third book written! Whaaaaaa! Crazy. Continue reading “I Finished Writing My Novel!”
We spent a relatively lazy Sunday visiting the Writer’s Museum, going on a writer’s walking tour, and ending off at the Edinburgh Museum. Continue reading “Getting to Know Scottish Writers – Edinburgh Day 5”
Blog maintenance can be incredibly tough. Working full time and writing a novel, these things take up pretty much the majority of my time, and leave me with very little energy for coming up with blog posts, let alone actually writing them. Not that I’m complaining or anything; I have a busy life and that’s far better than being bored all the time, which is what happens when I have too much free time on my hands. All I’m really getting at with this is that I’m sorry. Continue reading “Blog Maintenance”
I’ve finally reached 100 pages in the current novel I’m writing! It’s been a long haul, most of it feel like quite the unfortunate struggle, but I’m finally there! Obviously, there’s still a long ways to go, no doubt full of more struggle and writer’s block, but 100 pages is always an exciting milestone. Continue reading “100 Pages!”
Sometimes, regardless of how much planning you’ve done, you encounter points in your writing that seem like impenetrable mountains to climb. You’ve geared up and are all ready to go, but then when you actually get to the bottom of the mountain, you look up and realise you have no idea how you’re getting to the top. Continue reading “Getting Through Writer’s Block”
…keeps the writer’s block away? It certainly seems to at times at least.
When I’m writing, I make it my goal to write at least a page a day. It may not seem like a lot, but even having that small goal in mind really helps to speed the process along. Continue reading “A Page a Day…”
I’ve officially started on my third novel, and I must say, it’s really nice getting back into the writing routine. It’s comforting, even if it does take up a lot of time. It’s a good take-up of time.
The writing’s been slow to start, but it’s going well I think. It is a pleasure to be writing again, as much as it is mind-consuming. It is myself in my natural state, as my boyfriend puts it. Continue reading “Where Do You Get Your Inspiration From?”
